Peru: Technical workshop “Training on NAMA development”

This workshop took place in the framework of the capacity-building programme of the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV and was jointly organised by the Peruvian Environmental Ministry (MINAM) with the UNDP Low-Emission Capacity Building Programme, GIZ and the Mitigation Momentum Project - all supported by the International Climate Initiative (ICI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMU).

The workshop aimed at identifying the key steps to be taken for the development and implementation of specific Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in three sectors in Peru.

It therefore comprised a 2-day NAMA training, working with a step-wise and systematic approach that guided participants from an initial background analysis to the final implementation phase of NAMAs, considering different design options and financing needs. Oriented by this guideline, workshop participants discussed specific mitigation concepts and corresponding implementation barriers more in detail for three prioritized sectors: Bioenergy, transport and construction materials.
